Term2 week 7 GP essay

Mankind is a cancer upon the Earth, Do you agree?
Global warming imperils Himalayan glaciers, poor nations brake greenhouse gas rise, polluting school buses still on the road and honeybee die-off threatens food supply. All these titles appear in front of our eyes in an increasing frequency. People are enjoying their comfortable life with the precedence of the modern technology, but we are unconscious about the fatal effects that we have being bringing to our beloved earth. I strongly believe the mankind is a cancer upon the earth. This can be shown in the areas of pollution, deforestation, abusing of nature resources and the killing of the precious animals.

Mankinds pollute the earth in ways of the air, land and water. Using of the fridges and air conditionings increase the emission of the carbon dioxide and CFCs which destroy the ozone layer in the atmosphere and hence cause the global warming and the rise of the sea level. The illegal burning of wood in some countries also contributes to the air pollution in a severe way. We pollute land by producing astronomical numbers of non-degradable plastic goods and all of them end up being the landfills. The overwhelmed mining activities also destroy huge area of arable land as the land that are mined cannot be used forever. The chemicals that we use in the industries are also not disposed correctly and the lands they pollute are unusable. Human also pollute the water by using the chemical fertilizers on their crops. All these will be washed into river and the water will become poisonness and cannot be consumed by any living creatures. Therefore, the water resource is becoming scarcer nowadays. According to research, there are a loss of 6 million hectares of land and 24 billion tons of topsoil every year around the world. There are more than 14,000 people died daily due to water pollution.

Our mankinds also killing the earth like cancer by causing deforestation. We cut down trees to make furniture and produce papers. Due to the large population, more and more trees are being cutting down intensively. We do not care about the consequences that we might bring to our earth. Human are very selfish and we just care that we can live comfortably and happily. People also waste piles and piles of paper unconsciously in their daily life and this worsens the prolem of deforestation. Deserts are appearing in a higher speed nowadays and our lives are threatened. According to research, by 2025, two-thirds of arable land in Africa will disappear, along with one-third of Asia's and one-fifth of South America's.

Our earth is hurting due to our abuse of the non renewable natural resources. Greedy is one of the natures that belong to us. We want to be rich and want to live comfortably. Therefore, we need nature resources like coal to produce electricity so that we can see in the night and we can keep ourselves warm in the winter. However, we extract the natural resources ceaselessly and we are never satisfied. We take all the natural resources that we have for granted. We also extract resources as it can make us rich. Due to its preciousness, it is very profitable. People begin to mine in a very large scale and abandon the lands after they leave with great satisfaction. According to research, the non-renewable resources will be depleted in a very short time and we are not able to survive without them. We are killing our earth and even ourselves without realizing it.

We also act like the cancer to the earth in a way that we kill the organs in our earth which is the We act like cancer upon the earth as we are killing the organ of the earth one by one which are the other species that exist on this earth. Mankinds always consider ourselves as primate. We think we are superior to other animals. For the animals that are not so scarce, we eat their meat and rare them to sell for money such as chicken and pigs. For those which are distinct, we also kill them cruelly for their precious skin and their organs to eat, too. All parts on their body are valuable. Therefore, more and more species begin to disappear form our earth and we lost them forever. Our present course will lead to the extinction of half of all plant and animal species by 2100.

However, some of the people who know the importance in saving our environment are trying their best to preserve the earth. They organize people to plant trees and purify water. They form organizations that punish those who capture precious animals illegally. They really hope that the earth can be saved and more people can understand the importance of the earth to us. Unfortunately, this group of people who want to save our home is really a minority. Their strength is really insignificant. Our earth is still deteriorating in a fast rate.

In conclusion, I strongly believe that mankind is a cancer upon the earth, we are destroying the earth in destructive and fast way. The earth is taking her revenge now by making us suffer from tsunami, floods and other kinds of disasters. If we do not start to save our earth now, we are not going to survive in the future. We are killing ourselves indirectly.
